the Curve Marks 20 Years of Success with Community Celebration and Sustainable Initiatives

Petaling Jaya, 24 October 2024 – the Curve, a cornerstone of Mutiara Damansara, proudly celebrates 20 years of excellence, marking a significant milestone in its history. With an impressive occupancy rate of 93% as of October 2024 and an ambitious goal to increase footfall by 20% this year, the Curve continues to set itself apart as one of Malaysia’s premier shopping destinations. 

Building on the momentum from 2023, where the mall reported an average monthly footfall of 1 million visitors, the Curve has seen its occupancy rate rise to 93% with 13 new leases secured. This is an increase from the 92% occupancy rate recorded in the previous year.

As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2024, we are steadfast in our commitment to sustainability, underscored by partnerships, and a diverse range of new tenants, all aimed at forging a brighter future,” stated En. Jazmi Kamarudin, Chief Operations Officer of Boustead Properties Berhad. 

As part of its 20th Anniversary celebration, the Curve achieved several milestones, including being awarded the Malaysia Book of Records for “The Most Extensive Display of Raya Greeting Cards” at the Curve, Mutiara Damansara – recognised as the largest display of its kind in Malaysia. In addition, the Curve continues to support the growth of SMEs, with many businesses evolving from humble kiosks to permanent tenants, including popular brands like Khatam and Rumah Kebaya Bangsar.  

One of the key highlights of the celebration was the wildly successful Slide the Curve campaign, which ran from 3rd to 22nd September 2024, featuring Malaysia’s first-ever water slide within a shopping mall. This event drew high participation, transforming the mall into a bustling hub of excitement for  families and visitors of all ages. In addition, the Curve has hosted annual events such as Retro Havoc, Bla Bla Bla Market, and the Merdeka Food Run 2024, creating lively and inclusive activities for the surrounding communities. Looking ahead, events such as Deepavali, ACE Malaysia Squash Cup 2024 and Christmas aim to continuously support local businesses and engage the community. 

To further elevate the excitement of the 20th Anniversary celebration, the Curve is running a grand lucky draw, offering visitors the chance to win incredible prizes. Lucky winners stand a chance to win the following prizes: 

1st Prize: 1x Honda WR-V 1.5L V  

2nd Prize: 1x Travel package to London, inclusive of flight ticket and accommodation for 3 days, 2 nights at Royale Chulan Hyde Park 

3rd Prize: 1x 65-inch Sony Smart TV   

In addition, the Curve is offering several other fantastic consolation prizes, including premium furniture from Maju Home, a Sony PlayStation 5, Apple products, a Dyson Fluffy Vacuum, and more. These prizes continue to add an extra layer of excitement, rewarding loyal shoppers for their continued support. 

The Curve continues to champion sustainability alongside its celebratory events by collaborating with KLEAN, a pioneering Malaysian recycling platform, as part of the Malaysia Plastics Sustainability Roadmap 2021-2030. As a Location Partner for KLEAN’s AI-Powered Smart Reverse Vending Machines (RVM), the Curve has collected over 18,343 plastic containers and bottles since December 2023, saving 1.2 tonnes in COfootprints.  

In line with its sustainability effort, the mall has also positioned itself as a leader in green initiatives within Petaling Jaya, boasting the most Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in a shopping mall , with 16 in total. The partnership with ChargeEV, ChargeSini, and Carput have contributed to CO2 reduction of over 3,000 kg, equivalent to planting 126 trees. The mall has also implemented LED lighting, eco-recycling programs, and a fully digital, cashless parking system. Through these initiatives, the Curve not only supports environmental conservation but also enhances the community’s experience, creating a cleaner and more sustainable future for all. 

In 2024, the Curve welcomes a variety of renowned fashion brands, further enhancing its retail offerings. New tenants such as Forever 21, Eiger, Anta Kids, and Cotton On showcase the mall’s dedication to staying ahead of consumer trends, providing a wide range of styles from fast fashion to outdoor wear. These additions highlight the Curve’s commitment to offering diverse and trendy choices for fashion-conscious shoppers. 

The Curve culinary landscape expands in 2024 with new F&B establishments, enriching the dining experience for its visitors. Notable additions include Serai, Richeese Factory, Flint, and Yishensu Vegetarian Cuisine alongside the recent openings of Suki-ya and other beloved spots. These restaurants and eateries emphasise the Curve’s main focus on catering to various palates, ensuring a satisfying and dynamic food experience for all.  

The Curve’s 20 year Anniversary is being celebrated with a year-long programme of activities, including monthly rewards on the 20th of every month, community-driven activities, limited-edition gift with purchase, Tenant Appreciation Awards, and many more! The mall’s focus on community engagement, sustainability, and innovation ensures that it will continue to thrive as a beloved destination in Mutiara Damansara.
