Shop, Dine & Recharge – All In One Place

Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2023 – the Curve, the iconic pedestrianised shopping mall nestled in the heart of Mutiara Damansara, is proud to announce another significant step towards a greener future with the official launch of 16 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations on Level B1 of the mall’s car park.

The announcement was made recently at the official launch of the mall’s EV charging stations together with ChargeEV by Yinson Greentech – the first Charge Point Operator of the Curve and the two new EV charging partners, namely ChargeSini and Carput.

Owned and operated by Boustead Curve, a subsidiary of Boustead Properties Berhad, the Curve delivers this latest initiative, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability and convenience for its patrons.

This milestone is part of the mall’s continuous commitment to sustainability. As a trailblazer in adopting green mobility practices, the Curve has had a head start in the realm of eco-conscious transportation. The mall was the first to provide EV Charging in partnership with the Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) in 2015. GreenTech’s mission was to roll out 300 EV charging stations across Malaysia in 2016, located in high traffic areas such as shopping malls, hotels, office buildings, and residential areas, including the PLUS highway. The first ChargEV stations were operational at the Curve. This early involvement positions the Curve as an advocate of green mobility, evident by its sustained commitment to facilitating EV charging.

Another notable achievement for the Curve is its position as one of the top malls in the Klang Valley to have the most EV Charging stations, following Suria KLCC, making it the mall in Petaling Jaya with the most EV Charging stations.

“This marks a significant milestone for the Curve and our commitment to sustainability. We understand that the future of transportation is electric, and we are proud to lead the charge in enhancing convenience and accessibility for EV owners. the Curve is more than just a shopping destination; it’s a place where sustainability meets convenience,” said Jazmi Kamarudin, Chief Operations Officer of Boustead Properties Berhad.

“Through this initiative, we are not only offering a service but also shaping the way we think about mobility and the environment. In this regard, we want to thank our valued partners – ChargeEV by Yinson Greentech, ChargeSini and Carput – for sharing in this vision and joining forces with us towards the greater good,” he added.

The addition of these EV charging stations comes as part of Boustead Properties’ Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)-led BIJAU agenda to create greener infrastructure while integrating ESG values into every facet of its business strategies.

Setting new sustainability standards as part of an infrastructure revolution, the launch of the EV stations at the Curve proudly leads the charge towards becoming the premier shopping destination for EV users in the greater Damansara vicinity. This pioneering move represents a significant stride towards enhancing the mall’s sustainability landscape, offering more charging stations than any other shopping mall in the area.

The Curve is at the forefront of supporting EV users with 14 strategically located EV charging stations. These stations are designed to provide utmost convenience and accessibility for both shoppers and the local community. Furthermore, the Curve will be expanding their commitment to EV infrastructure, with additional charging stations planned for installation by the end of 2023, increasing the total number of EV charging stations to 16.

However, the Curve’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond convenience. It transforms the shopping experience into a sustainable endeavour, making it an attractive destination for EV users, who can now shop, dine, and recharge – all in one place! This initiative also underscores the Curve’s commitment to the local community.

As part of its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability under the BIJAU Agenda, the Curve will also be embarking on various long-term sustainability initiatives. These include the establishment of charging docks for public and residential use, with the introduction of e-bike motorcycles to reduce carbon emissions in the basement parking.

The mall has achieved substantial progress in implementing several sustainability initiatives such as LED lighting in public and common areas, significantly reducing energy consumption and emissions. A dedicated space for eco-recycling programs has been established, promoting environmental consciousness among visitors. Furthermore, the mall has transitioned to a 100% digital and cashless parking system, offering convenience and aligning with eco-friendly practices. As part of the Curve’s ongoing sustainability efforts, they are planning to install solar panels on buildings, adding another dimension to their commitment to a greener future.

the Curve’s expansion of EV charging infrastructure is also in line with the Malaysian government’s target to have 10,000 EV charging stations by 2025, contributing to the nation’s green mobility goals.

“We believe that collectively, small changes can end up making a big difference, and through this initiative, we hope to inspire others to embrace eco-conscious choices in their everyday lives. Together, we are driving towards a greener, more sustainable future, one EV charge at a time,” said Jazmi.

And now, the Curve invites all shoppers to join the green movement and experience the future of sustainable shopping. With its new charging stations, the Curve sets the standard for a greener, more accessible future.
